‘The Goldstars’ is the latest in the visual library of DVD productions celebrating the Goldstar Collection Centenary Exhibition – the potted history of 31 Squadron initially operating in the North west Frontier of India , through the Burma campaign, the repatriation of prisoners of war (PoWs) from the Japanese camps in Java and into the Cold War in Germany before moving on to a protracted Middle East series of conflicts, This is a history rich in heroism, and fortitude. This is inspiring and entertaining viewing.

This is the story of the conversion and fitting out of three 30 ft ISO steel shipping containers into the Goldstar Collection Centenary Exhibition. The artefacts and memorabilia displayed feature a century of interest and information gathered from ex-31 personnel representing 100 years of continuous service to the world.

The exhibition is sited at, Niederrhien Weeze Airport, (RAF Laarbruch); an expanding RAF Germany Museum.

Here we illustrate and explore a myriad of little know but very real conflicts; from formation on the North West Frontier of India to Afghanistan, Syria, (twentieth and twenty-first century), thro’ Burma /Japanese WWII campaigns, (Chindit and Kohima supply) to the Cold War in Europe and Middle Eastern theatres.

Be amazed, amused, aghast and entertained, this story is heroic, has pathos and deserves your undivided attention.

Amazing! This is how to turn three standard shipping containers into an interesting and informative stroll through the long and distinguished career of No. 31 Squadron, RAF and its personnel, one of the RAF’s longest serving, if not the longest, Squadrons. A lot of hard work by Terence P. O’Halloran, friends and colleagues went into the creation of this museum, now located at the former RAF Station, Laarbruch, in Germany, which portrays the Squadron’s long service, mainly in Asia, India and beyond and is amply covered in a detailed commentary by Terry himself, with a surprise donation at the closing stages of his talk of some interesting artifacts to add to the collection. Not only of general interest to those interested in military aviation, but also a must-have for the enthusiast.
